Baby Bank by Sarah Robinson
Thank you Netgalley for an arc for an unbiased review.
This book is what I would immediately classify as low stakes, and I went into it expecting that. This doesn't mean no stakes, but be aware, for some readers who prefer more discourse, angst or outright hostility, this book won't be for you.
This is the sort of book I would pick up when I need a break from heavier style of books I tend to read. High fantasy saturation is a thing.
Found family features heavily, which considering the plan on having a baby on Mila's own terms isn't surprising either. I found overall it was done well and realistic.
Despite all the light moments, the book also covered emotional moments. This allowed the book to have depth that otherwise would have been missing. Complicated also occasionally reared it's head, and having the juxposition throughout gave it a balance.
I vied between 4 and 5 stars. 5 for me has to make it feel exceptional as a book. This was close but I felt it didn't quite meet my own requirements for that.
It means this is an extremely strong 4/5 stars ๐ ๐๐๐
